If you happen to be in the Miami Area and there is a Miami Heat game or a concert, chances are great you'll be attending the event at the American Airlines Arena.
American Airlines Arena is fairly young as far as arenas go as it only opened in 1999. The inaugural event was Gloria Estefan's Millennium Concert Spectacular.
The Arena holds up to 19,600 when fully utilized for Miami HEAT basketball, but if the venue calls for a more intimate feel, the upper balconies can be closed.The arena is able to be configured in five separate ways for concerts and other events, seating as few as 5,000 and as many as almost 20,000 patrons.
A number of performances take place each year at the American Airlines Arena, such as NBA basketball action, ice shows, circus, musical concerts, and the WNBA's Miami SOL which also calls this arena home since August 2000.
If you are disabled or you have a special needs person with you, American Airlines Arena is fully ADA compliant and they make all the accommodations they can to make sure all patrons enjoy their time at American Airlines Arena. Please be advised there are no cameras or video cameras allowed inside the building.
