In order to plan a trip to the Charleston area, you simply must first make a stop at the Charleston Visitor Center. This is THE place to go when you are looking to find out about all that the wonderful city of Charleston, South Carolina has to offer. The visitor center actually gets about one and a half million people that stop by for information throughout the year, with approximately 2,500 people stopping by in a single day.
When you first walk into the Charleston Visitor Center, you are greeted with many great photographs that create somewhat of a timeline telling you all about the history of the area. It is quite interesting to see, as well as the map of the Charleston peninsula that lays at your feet, built right into the floor. Then, you can head into another room where you will find tons of great information.
This second room is considered the Brochure Room where you will find a multitude of brochures filling all kinds of racks. You can find out about all of the available attractions in the area, as well as great places to dine and stay. There are even friendly staff members that are more than happy to answer any questions that you may have. If you would like, you can also purchase passes for certain events or transportation in Charleston at the counter here.
