The Children's Museum of Denver is not your ordinary museum. No stuffy, docent-shushed hallowed hall, the Children's Museum is an interactive boatload of fun! Based on a concept called 'playscape', the Children's Museum is a place where Colorado kids of all ages come to learn the fun way - by doing.
Located at 2121 Children's Museum Drive, it's open year-round and membership costs less than a hundred bucks. Grandparents have their own level of membership which entitles them to as many visits - with or without the kids - as they can manage in a year. Childcare professionals get a great deal on membership, too. For around seventy dollars, this level entitles daycare providers to bring a busload of children to the museum for interactive fun. A morning at the Children's Museum will wear the little rascals right out, guaranteeing great afternoon naps.

Recently the Museum hosted such special events as Stop, Drop and Roll! , presented by the Denver Fire Department. Sure the kids thought they were just having fun with their heroes, but they were actually learning vital, lifesaving skills. Every child who attended came away understanding what to do should they be caught in a house fire. Not a bad exchange for an afternoon goofing around with firetrucks!
In November the Denver Children's Museum will present Under My Feet and Over My Head, where an afternoon of learning about our home planet is capped with an interactive eating experience. They call it 'layers of earth', but it tastes like brownies, marshmallows and ice cream. Almost every afternoon at the Children's Museum finds kids in the Art ala Carte playscape, fingerpainting and learning how colors work together.
