The Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center is currently hosting an exhibit by that all-American boy, Andy Warhol. Andy made a name for himself in the 1960s with a series of silk-screened prints featuring the most mundane of subjects-- Brillo boxes and Campbell's soup cans. The Fine Arts Center of Colorado Springs has acquired a stunning collection of Warhol's work-- both his early, commercial advertising art as well as examples of his later, more famous pieces.
More than visual art can be enjoyed at the Fine Arts Center of Colorado Springs. The center plays gracious host to many fascinating speakers each season. For example, November 2005 will find patrons sharing an evening with the oh-so fabulous John Waters. Waters directed such astonishing cult classics as Pink Flamingos and Hairspray. Members are invited to a screening of the documentary, Divine Trash, before Mr Waters' speaking engagement.
The Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center is housed in an authentic adobe structure and recently opened a tasty eatery they call 'Cravings on the Terrace'. The cuisine at Cravings is strictly caterer-quality, with succulent dishes as well as an breathtaking view of Pike's Peak. Make an exquisite day of it with a morning in the gallery, lunch at Cravings and an evening listening to a fascinating speaker. Art doesn't get much finer than right here in Colorado Springs.
