This lovely, large home was built way back in the year 1853 as a summer home. The style of the home is quite wonderful and truly amazing to view with its majestic Italianate style.
The story behind this house is just as interesting as its design. At one point, the Edgar Fripp House was actually used as a Union Hospital during the Civil War. If its walls could talk, Tidalholm would also tell stories of how it was a guest house during the period from the 1930s until 1974. There were many types of guests who used to stay there such as professors, artists, statesmen and more.
This house, located on Short Street in Beaufort, has actually been used in a couple different major motion pictures in its time. These movies include The Great Santini filmed in 1978 and then The Big Chill in 1983. You are sure to enjoy a stop by to look at this wonderful house during a walking tour through the area.
