The Houston Art Car Museum
Planning A Drive To The Art Car Museum
Looking for something fun to do? How about something that is truly unique? Maybe even something that your friends will not believe you if you told them that you were there unless you were able to show them pictures to prove it? Well, if you are going to be in the Houston area, you are truly in luck. The Art Car Museum has the funkiest displays of art on a vehicle canvas that you can imagine.
You probably never thought that you would see a car transformed into a giant white Easter bunny complete with a basket loaded with bright, pastel eggs. At this museum you can! There are cars loaded up with some of the coolest paint jobs, gems, glitter, and props on the planet. In this place, you will never know what you are going to find. Like, can you ever imagine seeing a car transformed into a giant, creepy cockroach? How about a 12 foot tall red stiletto heel that seats two and goes up to 80MPH? You have to see these rolling works of art to believe them.
All of the artists are amazing at what they do. Not only that, they love and take great pride in the artwork that they create. Once they have a vision, they make it come to life. Plus, what better canvas to create your art on that something as real, big and as 3-D as a car?
All of the exhibits on display are from local, national and even international artists that come together to forge a display of really cool contemporary art. Once a year, many of the cars displayed participate in the Art Car Parade which is held each April or May in conjunction with the Houston International Festival. The Art Car Museum opened back in February of 1998 and has been putting on amazing displays to the public ever since. Whether you are an art fanatic or a car enthusiast, this is the place for you to see.
The museum is open from Wednesday through Sunday with hours from 11:00 am until 6:00 pm. Easy to get to, the museum location is at 140 Heights Boulevard in Houston. You can schedule your own tour to ensure you see all that there is to see by calling (713) 861-5526.
