The Leanin' Tree Museum of Western Art is an amazing and breathtaking point of interest to investigate when you are in Boulder, Colorado. This totally entertaining museum features the private collection of western art by Ed Trumble, founder and chairman of Leanin' Tree Incorporated which creates beautiful fine art greeting cards and distributes them nationally. His passion for American western art has spanned for over five decades and continues to grow. It will astound and inspire you with its quality.
Over 400 paintings and bronzes are exhibited here. They show the various themes of the genre, cowboys, Indians, deserts, mountains, landscapes, ranch life, scenes of pioneers,wildlife and American western history. Ed Trumble collected these as he traveled the west in search of the fine art for his greeting cards and became friends with many of the artists. It adds a unique cultural contribution to the Boulder community.
Buck McCain's, "Invocation' lets you know you have arrived at the right place. It's aMonumental fifteen foot high bronze sculpture that rests at the entrance of the museum and faces west to the magnificent Rocky Mountains.
Recently added is the new outdoor sculpture garden. It's an inviting stroll through Lovely gardens with some very heavyweight works of art including a bronze cougar that weights more than 1500 pounds.
It's visitor friendly place with a 300 word essay next to each painting giving information about the work, the life of the artist, how the work was obtained and sometimes, stories of the friendship between Ed Trumble and the artist. There are treasure hunts for small children and quizzes for older children with prizes for each child just for participating. There is a gift shop of greeting cards and fine art prints published by Leanin' Tree, all under $10.00.
