Libertyland is a great place to make a stop at on your next visit to Memphis. Be prepared to spend an entire day at this fun venue. There is as much for adults to do as there is for the kids to enjoy.
Libertyland has more than 20 rides, a myriad of games of chance and live entertainment in the open air theater area.
Also, Libertyland is home to the Zippin Pippin, which is North America's second oldest wooden roller coaster that is still in operation. The Zippin Pippin has yet another claim to fame, it is said that the Zippin Pippin was the favorite roller coaster of one Mister Elvis Presley.
Other rides at Libertyland boast names that hint at what you can expect, the Paratrooper takes up 2 stories and then drops you at a fast rate of speed, with a parachute opening at the last minute to slow you down to a soft landing. Other wild rides include WipeOut, The Thriller, The Rebellion, and Revolution, which is a steel roller coaster that travels at speeds up to 55 miles an hour - if you love roller coasters, this is the one for you.
Another Libertyland ride that is quite popular is Park's Peak which features an enticing combination of rock climbing and bungee jumping - you climb to the top, attach the bungee cord and jump!
The younger set will enjoy a visit to Tom Sawyer's Island where they can climb and run to their heart's content. There are also video and other games available to keep the kids busy.
If you get a snack attack, never fear! There is food aplenty at Libertyland. If you need to fill a growling tummy, choose from funnel cakes, soft ice cream, pan pizzas, hamburgers, turkey legs and more.
