Anyone who has ever been to the Charleston, South Carolina area is well aware that there are a great number of wonderful historical sites and buildings that you can tour. However, one of these fabulous places should not be overlooked during your travels. It is called the Middleton Place Plantation and it is located at 4300 Ashley River Road. This is a beautiful spot that is just perfect for a visit with your family or sightseeing group.
The rich history behind this gorgeous 18th century plantation is just amazing and quite interesting to learn about. Middleton Place is now actually known as a National Historical Landmark. During a visit to the Middleton Place Plantation, guests get a chance to walk through and enjoy views from the Gardens as well as the Plantation Stableyards and House Museum. This is the perfect opportunity to learn all about how this marvelous structure was able to survive such trying situations such as and earthquake and the Civil War.
The cost of admission to the Middleton Place Plantation is $25 per adult and $5 for children ages 7 through 15. For an additional cost of $15 per person, you can even take a beautiful horse-drawn carriage ride around the plantation. You will not believe all of the wonders that can be found on the 45-minute carriage tour. If a guided tour of the House Museum is what you are looking for, that can also be arranged at an additional cost of $10 per person.
