Make the Frank W. Williams Home a stop along the way in your charter bus. Frank W. Williams built this home as a wedding present for his wife, Mamie. Built in 1886 in a the Queen Anne style of the Victorian period. It is a breathtaking testament to one man's devotion to his wife. Merrehope is another beautifully built 20 room Victorian mansion. It was one of 6 buildings left standing after General Sherman's campaign in February 1864.
Last but not least, for a little creepy fun on your charter bus tour, check out historic Rose Hill Cemetery. This historic cemetery contains the monuments of John Ball and Lewis Ragsdale, founders of the City of Meridian. It also contains the graves of the King and Queen of the Gypsies, Emil and Kelly Mitchell.
There are usually beads and trinkets draped over the grave of Kelly, a mother of 15 children, who died at the age of 47 due to a premature childbirth. Over 20,000 people deluged Meridian for the funeral of the Queen.
