The Museum Of Geology
When you are in the Rapid City, South Dakota area, you may want to think about planning a visit to the Museum of Geology located in the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. This can be a fun and interesting experience for your entire family to enjoy. Not to mention the fact that it is also a wonderful way to learn about all that has to do with geology.
When you visit the Museum of Geology, you will be delighted at the collections on hand of the 250,000 plus vertebrate fossils and the 6,000 minerals. People just love to visit the museum so that they can find out all there is to know about these interesting exhibits. On display for the general public are plesiosaur and mosasaur skeletons as well as a pregnant oreodont.
As items are found, they are happily added to the current collections at the museum. The staff at the museum is always working as hard as possible to put together new skeletons for your viewing pleasure. Be sure that you bring your camera so that you can take pictures.
The hours that you can stop by and see all of the great exhibits at the Museum of Geology are from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm Monday through Friday, 9:00 am until 4:00 pm on Saturday, 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Sunday. The exhibits only close down on all of the major national holidays, so be sure to plan your visit accordingly.
