National Vietnam Veterans Art Museum
National Vietnam Veterans Art Museum
Although this is one of the newer museums, it is a very worthy stop on your next tour of Chicago. Created in 1981, by a few like-minded Vietnam combat veterans who created an artistic and historical collection that would become a timeless, humanistic statement of their experiences with the Vietnam War.
The exhibit toured the United States and later found a permanent home with the help of Mayor Richard Daley, at 1801 S. Indiana in Chicago and was the beginning of the museum you see today.
Times for visiting the museum to see the exhibitions are as follow:

Now, the National Vietnam Veterans Art Museum (NVVAM) is still located in Chicago's South Loop and the collection has grown from one humble group of art works telling one group of veteran's stories to a facility that houses over 500 works of art, including paintings, photography, sculpture, poetry and music.
All the works in the Museum's permanent collection were created and comprised by 125 artists, who chronicled their individual experiences from the Vietnam War. The artwork presented at the Museum provides a unique viewpoint on war for all visitors.
Make this thought provoking venue a stop on your next tour of Chicago.
