Winter Hours: 10:00-5:00 PM Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Admission: Adults $8, Students/seniors $6 with ID, Children 5-12 $4, and Children under 5 free
The South Street Seaport Museum takes visitors on a sea voyage back in time. Once the countries leading port, now it is a historic twelve square block area in Manhattan. Today it is still home to the country's largest fish market in operation where 18th and 19th century buildings line the roads.
This seaport was once a major impact on the country, city, and the state with it's commercial imports and exports. The goal of the museum is to show visitors this awesome history through programs and events.
One program called Fish Tales, Saturday Story time at the seaport, features a weekly book reading and allows visitors to gaze through a microscope and examine the critters of the water.
Another program allows visitors to sit back and learn about the history of the Statue of Liberty. This is a symbol of our freedom, but most people don't realize the great history she represents. This event takes place Saturdays from 1:00-4:00 PM.
One of the most fascinating things at South Street Seaport is the New York Unearthed, South Street Seaport Museum's urban archaeology center. Upstairs is a museum where you can view artifacts and dioramas. Downstairs, is a place where you can gaze through a glass-enclosed laboratory at archeologists working on preserving million year old artifacts. This is the only museum that was created to discover New York City's archeological legacy.
