When you are planning a visit to the area of Charleston, South Carolina, you should think about stopping by to catch a glimpse of the U.S.S. Yorktown. Otherwise known as "The Fighting Lady", the U.S.S. Yorktown is a famous aircraft carrier that resides at Patriot's Point Maritime Museum. This would make a fabulous trip for your entire family or sightseeing group.
The U.S.S. Yorktown is quite wonderful to view, especially when you see how large and majestic it is when you are up close to it. This is a very decorated ship that is known have aided a great deal in the United States victory during World War II in the Pacific Ocean. You really want to be sure that you bring your camera along when you visit this museum. It is a neat experience to be able to see all of the great stuff at Patriot's Point.
If you would like to stop by Patriot's Point Maritime Museum to see the U.S.S. Yorktown and the other great ships docked there, the hours of operation are from 9:00 am until 6:30 pm. The Museum is open daily with the exception of the Christmas holiday.
When you decide to visit, you may want to think about signing up for one of the group tours that are offered. This is the perfect way to learn everything that there is to know about all of these wonderful ships on hand. From April 1st through September 30th tickets are sold from 9:00 am until 6:00 pm with ships closing at 7:30 pm. From October 1st through March 31st tickets are sold from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm with ships closing at 6:30 pm. A guided tour may be just the things that you are looking for!
