If you're a Baby Boomer you're almost certain to know who Maris was. If you ever collected baseball cards, you may already love the guy. Roger Eugene Maris was the player who finally broke Babe Ruth's single-season home run record. Maris swatted in sixty-one homers in 1961, thrilling sports fans everywhere.
Maris was a pretty humble guy and at first balked when presented with the idea of a museum dedicated to him. Eventually Maris warmed to the notion but only agreed after being promised that the museum would always be free to visit.
