Well, if you are going to be traveling throughout the Lancaster area, you and your family or charter bus group can make plans to stop by to visit Wheatland. This is the actual home that former President of the United States, James Buchanan used to live. Not only is this a perfect opportunity to learn about history, but this is always a beautiful stop where you can enjoy the splendid architecture and surroundings that Wheatland has to offer.
Inside this beautiful home on 1120 Marietta Avenue, you will have the opportunity to view several of the amazing rooms on the premises. All of the rooms that you have the chance to view are filled with all sorts of beautiful period furnishings and lots of antiques and family portraits. You can learn all about this house and the rich history surrounding it while you take your adventurous tour.
When you are planning your visit to Wheatland, you should know that the cost of admission is only $7 for adults, $6 for senior citizens, $5 for students, $2 for children ages 6 through 11 and free for children under the age of 6. There are also special group rates that you can take advantage of, just call the office in advance at (717) 392-8721 for a reservation. The hours during the summer months are from 10:00AM until 4:00PM Monday through Saturday and from Noon until 4:00PM on Sundays.
