The city of Niagara is located on the border of Ontario Canada and the great state of New York. It is famous for it's beautiful falls. Niagara Falls contains approximately 600,000 gallons of water with the drop of 170 feet. The oldest park in the nation is Niagara Falls, and it was established in 1885.
There are several communities surrounding Niagara Falls. The township of Lockport is one of the most well known. It has a historical setting with many museums and art center to tour. Cambria is another small community that is home to the Bonds Lake County Park. It offers hiking, fishing, sled runs and skiing. This community is in very close proximity to Lake Ontario. North Tonawanda and Tonawanda are the twin cities of New York. They are the gateway to the Erie Canal.
The Erie Canal is 500 miles long and it surrounds the entire state of New York canal system. The Tonawanda's are known for their waterfront recreation. The choices are endless with boating, shopping, dining golfing, concerts, museums etc. The town of Wilson is know for its wonderful fruit growing. There are several marinas as fishing is abundant with trout, salmon and bass. Wilson is also close to the Tuscarora State Park, which offers, swimming, hiking and picnicking.
Niagara Falls is famous for its romantic weddings. It has been named the Honeymoon Capitol. Niagara is also becoming widely known for the Niagara Wine Trail. There are several vineyard on the wine trail that can be toured. This has just recently become known nationally to help boost agribusiness.
One attraction at Niagara that brings in tourism is the lighthouses that are open to the public. To date there are still seven that can be toured. One of the most famous is called the 30 mile point lighthouse that actually has accommodations to stay in for a price.
