One of the general concerns of the museum is how the public views contemporary art. The Bronx Museum of the Arts tries to encourage visitors and the public to join in some of their many public programs to help bridge the gap between contemporary art and its public perception. This way there is clear communication between the public and the artists who produce the work. They also host a family programs. One is called Families First and the other is called Family Affair. They provide hands on workshops every Saturday from 1:00-3:00 PM. These are available for anyone at any age to participate in.
Another interesting series the museum hosts is it's teen program. This was designed to reach out to teens in the Bronx and help them make contemporary art a part of their lives. They meet twice a month to develop events designed with teens in mind.
The Bronx Museum of the Arts is determined to make its community and visitors more cultured at every visit. Make this location a stop on your tour of the City.
