The Los Angeles Zoo is a trendsetter and a beautiful gift to the city of Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Zoo houses 1200 unique animals and various plant life to see from all over the world.
The Los Angeles Zoo was opened in 1966. This zoo has been, and always will be a gift to every species of animals it houses. Each year it strives to save endangered animals while researching and protecting others. One example was in 1967, the zoo obtained three endangered Oryx. They bred the animals and released the offspring back into the wild in Israel. This was not a one-time good deed. The zoo constantly strives to help species. By visiting the Los Angeles Zoo, you are monetarily contributing to their efforts.
There are several wild things to see at the Los Angeles Zoo. You can visit the alligator pits and lion grazing tundra. There are Monkey cages, and bird houses. You can even see the elephant named Gita. She has been at the Los Angeles Zoo since it opened! You want it, they've got it!
The Los Angeles Zoo is also home to lush botanical gardens. Here visitors can view the native and exotic greens that make up the Los Angeles habitat. Don't be fooled, this botanical garden is not only home to plant life. Various animal species live amongst the greens. Keep your eyes peeled. A trip in the Los Angeles Zoo botanical gardens will be a relaxing, and educational journey for all.
Hours: 10:00 AM-5:00 PM (Zoo keepers put animals away beginning at 4:00 PM)
Admission: Adults $10, Seniors $7, Children 2-12 $5, Children under 2 are free.
