NBC Studios has been home to many great TV shows, as well as news, and
magazine shows like Dateline. What a treat you are in for when you take a NBC Studio tour. Housed at 30 Rockfeller Center, it also is a terrific location for more site seeing stops.
The first stop takes you to the NBC History Theater where you get to view a video starring Katie Couric and Matt Lauer. Hosts of the famous Today Show, which first aired in 1952. Katie and Matt give a wonderful inside look at the history of the famous studio, and a hardy welcome to all. A great way to begin your tour.
After your video of Katie and Matt, your tour will proceed on to
the broadcast control room. Where visitors can view the monitors responsible for broadcasting over 100 program hours daily.
Then it is on to the various studios for a look. You will get to see studio 3C where NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams comes from, studio 8H where the New York Institution, as dubbed by former mayor Rudy Gulliani, Saturday Night Live is performed. You get to see just what the set looks like without anyone there. If you listen closely enough you may just hear the famous words yelled out..."Live from New York it's Saturday Night Live"!
The NBC Studios is a great choice of venues to visit in New York, especially if the weather is not co-operating for outside activities.
They offer a wonderful scripted tour of the behind the scenes going
ons of the studio. Plan on the entire tour to last approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.
