Chicago Children's Museum
The Chicago Children's Museum isn't just for kids. If you're making a jaunt to Chicago in the new future with or without the kids, make the Chicago Children's Museum a stop along the way.
Chicago Children's Museum is an awesome place where all kids and kids at heart can play and learn at the same time. There are fifteen permanent exhibits and programming spaces provide innovative learning experiences for children and their caregivers. There is always something fun going on to experience and best of all touching is encouraged! The museum serves more than 500,000 visitors annually and also has a fantastic outreach program where certain exhibits are brought to inner city kids who may not otherwise get to experience all that this fantastic venue has to offer.
The Chicago Children's Museum was founded in 1982 to make up for the cuts made to the learning programs in the Chicago Public Schools. The Museum also brings it exhibitions "on the road" to many different schools and libraries around the Chicago area.
The CCM moved to its current location on Chicago's redeveloped Navy Pier on Lake Michigan. The new facility is 57,000 square feet of learning and fun for all kids and big kids at heart.
Some of the current exhibits include science experiments, explainations of basic physics, common chemical and mineral compounds that we encounter in our daily lives to show kids science at work in our daily lives, and so much more.
If you're looking for a fun place to spend an afternoon, and be careful you just might learn something too! Check out the Chicago Children's Museum, created out of necessity and maintained by a love for learning.
