Located in beautiful Morrison, Colorado, Dinosaur Ridge is one of the most famous fossil locations in the entire world.
There have been tons of great dinosaur discoveries in this area such as the Brontosaurus and even the Stegosaurus. Because of historic discoveries like these, this area has also been called the "Outdoor Classroom". Dinosaur Ridge has been used for years by many generations of science teachers as an outdoor laboratory for students of all ages.
There are several ways that you can enjoy all that Dinosaur Ridge has to offer. One great way to do this is by taking a guided tour. Tours are offered year round during the week with prior reservations required. Most of these tours can last up to two hours, and they can accommodate groups of up to 100 people. A fun way to spend your time at the Ridge is on a Dinosaur Discovery Day. These days offer free admission and no reservation is necessary. This is your opportunity to view bones, tracks and other examples of the wonders you can find in this area. The hours on Dinosaur Discovery days are from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm.
If you are looking for a bit more of a laid back visit, you can join in during one of their Fireside Chats. This series is set up during the spring, fall and winter and features lectures and slide shows on local paleontology topics. These programs start at 7:00 pm and usually last about an hour and a half.
