The NREL Visitors Center is another fun destination off the beaten path for tourists of Denver and best of all, it's free of charge. The programs presented by this facility provide a fun and engaging way to explore renewable energy and identify energy efficient concepts.
They have a great youth programs that the kids will really love called Renewable Rangers: and is geared towards kids in the 4th-6th grade and they meet on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays at 10 am-11:30 am.
For older kids, the Young Scholars Program is geared towards 7th grade-high school and they meet on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays at 10 am-11:30 am, and 1:30 pm-3 pm. In these groups, both sets of kids will enjoy exploring renewable energy and energy efficiency concepts, learn about NREL's research and development activities, and explore energy-related careers.
There are Adult Programs that are for anyone age 18 and up. The program is available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays from 1:30 pm-3 pm. This fully comprehensive program emphasizes the commercial viability of renewable energy technologies and provides insight into NREL's research and development activities. Additionally, there is a great program for seniors called the Energetics! that encourages seniors to learn about renewable energy. They meet Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays from 10 am-11:30 am, 1:30 pm-3 pm.
Standard hours of operation are as follows : the Visitors Center is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and closed on weekends and major holidays.
