This 155-acre sanctuary located on the western side of Memorial Park is full of some of the coolest plants and animals in the Houston area.
There is a gorgeous five-mile trail area that all visitors can explore for free.There are also quite a few school groups who regularly attend field trips at the arboretum to gain a better appreciation of the natural world around them. What a great place for the entire family to go and learn about the many wonderful aspects about the environment around them.
At the arboretum, there is a great place called the Discovery Room. Here, you can learn all about trees and every aspect of the forest in an educational and interactive environment. You can explore by viewing little things under a microscope or maybe listen to various audio clips that tell about the creatures that live in the forest.
If you are in the mood to shop and pick up various trinkets, the Gift Shop is open from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm daily. You can buy some of the coolest gifts from books, educational toys and much more. All of the proceeds from purchases help to fund the Nature Center in keeping their educational programs running.

The Discovery Room is open every day but Monday from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm. Cost of admission to the arboretum is always free, but donations are truly welcomed and appreciated.
