The exhibits are well done and touching *is* encouraged on these exhibits. This is a place definitely made with kids in mind.
The animal exhibits feature more than 90 native Texas animals that can't be returned to the wild. As you go through the exhibit you and your kids will hear the calls of owls, hawks and ravens, you can also see the tiniest citizens of Texas in the Small Wonders Exhibit.
Dino Pit Exhibit is a popular one with the kids. Your kids will be given the chance to dig in an honest-to-goodness dino pit. They can also see fossils that have been found and learn about the dinosaurs they came from as well as follow dinosaur tracks.
Discovery Lab Exhibit is another hands on experience in experimenting that your kids will love. They can see seven mini-science labs including mammalogy, botany, ornithology, herpetology and geology. Your kids will also be able to crawl through a Hill Country cave in the Nature of Austin exhibit - which an interactive exhibit that features four types of natural areas found in the Austin area.
Eco-Detective Trail will let your kids test their knowledge. They can grab a detective pack and wander down the Eco-Detective Trail and see how many indicators of wildlife they can discover around the pond. There are a myriad of signs and tracks for your children to discover.
This is a very fun outing for both adults and children and if you're not careful, you just might learn something!
