Austin's Jack S. Blanton Museum of Art
The Jack S. Blanton Museum of Art is one of the finest university art museums in the country and the leading art museum serving the city of Austin and Texas. The Jack Blanton's permanent collection illustrates the history of Western civilization with over 17,000 works of art from all over the world.
The American and Contemporary art exhibits includes works from the major figures of early American realism and modernism, abstraction, and minimalism, along with works by acclaimed contemporary artists. You will also find an excellent European exhibit with 250 paintings of the late Renaissance and Baroque eras. This marks the Museum as one of the most important museums for these periods. The Blanton Museum has one of the leading collections of modern and contemporary Latin American art. The C.R. Smith Collection of Art of the American West covers the 19th and 20th centuries with more than 100 landscapes and Western scenes by renowned American artists.
The William J. Battle Collection of Plaster Casts is a collection of 19th-century, life-sized creations of the great masterpieces of ancient Greek and Roman sculpture.
