The Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum, Austin is always a favorite stop for visitors in their journey through Austin, Texas. It is a very new museum that celebrated its Grand Opening on April 28, 2001. It was the dream of former Texas Governor Bob Bullock come to life. All his life he wanted to recreate the history of his state and bring the Story of Texas to life through exhibits, theatre, films and interactive computer displays.
This wonderful modern museum is located in the Capital Complex in downtown Austin. Governor Bullock's dream has come to reality with thousands of visitors flocking there every year. The exterior of the museum is covered in sunset red granite and topped with a copper dome. A very handsome edition to the downtown area and hard to miss, along with several sculpture panels that depict scenes of Texas history and a massive 35 foot tall bronze star.
