If you are looking for some educational insight on the printing industry, you should stop by the Museum of Printing History in Houston, Texas. The Museum features wonderful information and workshops regarding printmaking, papermaking, as well as book bindery. There are several volunteers and resident artists on board to teach as well as answer and questions that may arise regarding the history of printing.

There are all kinds of collections and exhibits on display at the Museum that pertain to the vast history of printing throughout the years. There are also many exhibits of some of the works by print artists and other printers. If you are interested in looking at some of the equipment that has been used to create various print works throughout history, the museum also carries quite the display of machinery. You can browse through a collection of books, type, and ephemera regarding the commercial printing industry along with some of the different presses and equipment that was used in different processes along the way.

Just a small list of some of the items on display include: 1604 Douay Bible, 1765 Tax Stamp, 1453 Gutenberg Bible Facsimile, Ancient Papyrus Fragments, Antique Bookbinding Equipment, Letter Press and Type Collection, 1830 Oak Litho Press and much, much more. If you have ever wondered about the history of the printing industry, maybe it is the perfect time for you to schedule a visit to the Museum!

The Museum of Printing History is located on 1324 West Clay Street in Houston, Texas. Hours for your visiting pleasure are from Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm. Admission is only $5 for adults, $2 for children, students and seniors. Group tours are available as well, with the cost being $4 for adults and $2 for children.
