The main focus of the Wildflower Center is respect of the natural beauty and biological heritage of each region of the country. They are committed to conserving and restoring wildflowers, native plants, and the biological communities on which they depend. You should begin at the visitor's gallery, where a film explains the uniqueness of this non-profit center founded in 1982 by the former First Lady. Exhibits include some very unique and informational places to stop by such as nature's medicine cabinet, which shows you plant remedies while, Ralph the talking lawnmower, explains facts on native grasses.
There are 42 acres of fields, glowing with bluebonnets, Indian paintbrushes, verbena, and other local species, and also displays flora from regions through out the country. You can stroll down the nature trail, wind your way through fragrant wildflower meadows, and visit the display gardens; there are over 23 theme gardens.
