The Greenville Zoo
Looking for a wild time next time you visit Greenville? Make a stop by the Greenville Zoo. It isn't the largest zoo you've ever visited, but you will find it very interesting, as great care has been taken to recreate each animal's natural habitat to insure that they thrive in the zoo environment.
The Greenville Zoo is on about 14-acres and is located within Cleveland Park. You can see the entire zoo and all the exhibits in about 2 hours. Additionally, if you kiddos need some running around time and leg stretching after a long ride to Greenville, there are two playgrounds and many picnic facilities so you can enjoy your family time with a picnic lunch as well.
Each exhibit shows wildlife from all over the world shown in as natural of a habitat as possible in an open air display. The best times to visit are the early mornings when the animals are lively and the late afternoons when they are starting to rouse again to be fed. Bring your camera, you'll see some beautiful shots.
Additionally, there is a huge collection of reptiles, including each and every reptile species that is native to South Carolina. You can see lizards, snakes and more in natural settings that let the animal act naturally while you quietly watch the action.
After the zoo, there are hiking and biking trails around the zoo area and you can even play volleyball, tennis or just enjoy a leisurely walk through the beautifully landscaped trails. The Zoo is located at 150 Cleveland Park Drive, Greenville, SC 29601
