Peabody Place: A Memphis Cornerstone
If you plan to travel to Memphis, Tennessee you will undoubtedly visit Peabody Place. Located in the heart of downtown Memphis, Peabody Place is known as the cornerstone of the downtown area. Peabody Place is surrounded by many attractions of the Memphis area, such as Beale Street, the Orpheum Theater, AutoZone Park, the FedEx Forum (home of the NBAs Grizzlies), and the Peabody Hotel.
Covering an area totalling 8 city blocks, Peabody Place contains more than two million square feet of sky walks, corridors, and trolley stations. In fall 2001 the Peabody Place Entertainment and Retail Center was completed. This massive center has over 300,000 square feet of retailers space and over 3,000 parking spaces. Anchored by Jillian's, Tower Records, and the 22 screen Muvico Theater complex, which houses a 550-seat, 60 foot tall screen, the Peabody Place Entertainment and Retail Center is the ultimate in mall experiences.
With more than 80 restaurants in the area it is highly unlikely that you won't be able to find something appetizing to munch on, the biggest problem will be deciding which place to choose. From ribs and soul food at the Issac Hayes restaurant, to Dan McGuinness Irish Pub, which was built in Ireland and then shipped to Memphis, the choices of dining are limitless.
