One of these homes would have to be The Robert Mills House and Park located on 1616 Blanding Street. There are many gorgeous houses on this street, but this one tends to stand out quite a bit more than the others with its handsome brick structure.
Robert Mills was known to be the first Federal architect in the United States, designing a good amount of famous buildings, one of which is the Washington Monument. This house, however, was one of the only private residences that Robert Mills had ever designed. He was hired to design this home back in 1823 by a man named Ainsley Hall.
After Hall died, the house went through several owners and actually underwent many changes over the years. When the Robert Mills House was slated for demolition in the 1960s, a group of citizens got together to save it. It was then completely restored to its original splendor and was made into a historic house museum in 1967. Now, it is open to the general public so that people can explore the wonderful architecture along with all of the interesting objects inside.
