This wonderful structure has actually been the home for over thirty South Carolina Governor's and their families for many years. You are sure to enjoy a trip to this lovely, historical home. This wonderful place was built way back in 1855, and was not selected to become the Governor's Mansion until later on in 1868. The public is allowed to visit so that they may view many of the great items on display such as furniture, paintings, silver, china and more.

The regular tour schedule is on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10:00 am, 10:30 am and 11:00 am. There are several parts of the Governor's Mansion that are quite interesting. The State Dining Room is where the Governor and his family entertain many of their guests. There is also an area called the Hall of Governors, where you can view not only portraits, but also busts of the South Carolina Governors of the past. The Library on the premises is also chock full of many books that tell all about the history of the wonderful state of South Carolina.
