The Historic Powder Magazine

If you have ever been to Charleston, South Carolina, you are well aware that there are tons of great places that you can visit to learn all about the great history of the area. However, you have not truly learned all that there is to know about Charleston until you have paid a visit to the Powder Magazine. You may just want to schedule a visit the next time that you and your family happen to be in this area again.

The Powder Magazine is located at 79 Cumberland Street, just west of Church Street. In years past, this building was extremely important to the safety and welfare of the city of Charleston. This building happened to be the place where powder was stored back in the day to help defend the city against any problems. Today, it is known as the only public building still standing from the days of the Lords Proprietors in either of the states of North Carolina or South Carolina.

This historical building was constructed way back in the year 1713. It is a quite unique and interesting experience to visit this place that is now the home to a museum telling all about the history of Charleston and the surrounding area. The general public is welcome to stop by and check out the exhibits on display. If you would like, there are even tours offered where you can learn a bit more about the Powder Magazine in detail. This is one experience in Charleston that you do not want to miss.
