The John Mark Verdier House
The John Mark Verdier House
A trip to the lovely state of South Carolina is always amazing, especially if you are going to be hitting the Beaufort area. There are all kinds of different historic structures that you can visit as well as an abundance of walking tours that you can enjoy. You are sure to have a great time when you stop by this wonderful city, no matter what time of year it is. One place in the area that you may want to set aside some time to see is the historical John Mark Verdier House.
This beautiful historic structure is located in the downtown Beaufort area on Bay Street. It was actually built many, many years ago back in the 1800s. The original owner of the house, John Mark Verdier was a soldier in the American Revolution. Later on, he became a bit wealthy by becoming a merchant and was able to occupy this gorgeous piece of architecture positioned in the downtown area.
It is quite simply a joy to see for everyone who gets a chance to stop by this location on Bay Street. Many people love to bring along their cameras so that they can capture its beauty for themselves. The house itself has actually lived through a prior threat of being demolished back in the 1940s. Luckily for all of us, the house is now owned by the Historic Beaufort Foundation so that it can be preserved and enjoyed by many visitors for years to come.
If you are looking to stop by, the hours that the house is open to visitors are from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm, Monday through Saturday. There are closings on most of the major national holidays.
