A trip to Newport, Rhode Island is just not complete without a stop by to visit the Old Colony House. This wonderful establishment is located at 82 Touro Street on Washington Square. The Old Colony House, which is actually known to be the one of the oldest statehouses in all of the United States, was built by a man named Benjamin Wyatt sometime between 1736 and 1739. Today, the Old Colony House is managed by the Historical Society of Newport and owned by the State of Rhode Island.
It is quite a wonderful day trip to take to see the Old Colony House right in the heart of everything in Newport.
