It is believed that the Thomas Hepworth House was actually built way back in the year 1717. If this bit of information rings true, then this is the oldest house in all of Beaufort. However, because of the styling of the house, some think that it may have actually been rebuilt or renovated later in the year of 1760. When you sit back and think about the rich history of this house over the years, you realize just how amazing it is that a structure could last so very long.
Back in the beginning of the 1800s, it is said that the Thomas Hepworth House was also the site of a private school for boys. This private school was conducted by a gentleman named William Fickling. Then, much later in the 1950s, the building once again became a single family home that was owned by a couple by the name of Mr. and Mrs. Somers Pringle.
