Visit the Log Cabin Folk Art Center
The Log Cabin Folk Art Center is located at 315 4th Street South and is one of the oldest standing original homes in the area. This was originally a settler's cabin that was constructed in the mid-1800s and was moved to where it now stands in the 1930s. Originally, this cabin was a private residence and a stagecoach stop. In present day, this site serves as an exhibition gallery for local artists to showcase their latest creations.
The Log Cabin Folk Art Center also has a myriad of activities for your charter bus group to indulge in and there are regularly featured classes in painting using watercolor paints, woodcarving, pen and ink drawing, calligraphy, basketry, stoneware pottery making, silver jewelry making, poetry and creative writing and even weaving. The classes are small and personalized so everyone gets the most out of their artistic learning experience.
If you have children along for the ride on your charter bus, they can enjoy their own classes in drawing, painting, printmaking, and pottery. There are also workshops on wreath making using natural products from the woods that surround the cabin. There are also classes in the creation of seasonal folk arts from the region. Most of the classes take place on Saturday and Sunday from 10AM to 2PM. There is a fee for taking the classes that goes for the ongoing support of the facility.
