Union Pacific Railroad Museum
This museum is a must see attraction for a history lover, train lover, or lover of the old west and pioneer living.
The Union Pacific Railroad Museum, which is located at 1416 Dodge Street, houses one of the oldest corporate collections in the nation. This museum includes artifacts, photos, and documents, which trace the development of the railroad and the American West. The collection housed at the museum dates to the mid 1800’s, and features original editions of reports from survey teams, which searched for the ideal land route to join the nation, east to west. Surveying equipment, early rail equipment, and artifacts from the construction of this transcontinental railroad are on display for visitors to see. This museum tells the story of one of the world’s first construction marvels.
The transcontinental railroad was completed in 1869 by Union Pacific, and it helped shape the landscape and geography of the West of this country. The items on display at the Union Pacific Museum have been donated or loaned by employees, or friends of Union Pacific, and because of the interest shown, they have set aside this area to grace the adventuresome spirit of western pioneers.
