There are a myriad of exhibits ranging from fine art to the history of evolution to nature reconstructions that show over 15 different dioramas of natural terrain scenery around the state.
At the museum there are different centers for different types of exhibits. The Morrill Center is the home of fine art exhibits. The Dr. Paul and Betty Marx Science Center is a place where you kids can learn about science in general and archeology and paleontology in particular. One of the most popular exhibits here is the dig site where your kids can uncover the past through touchable skeleton fossils of plants and animals that can be held and touched.
There is also a planetarium on site with shows on the hour from 11AM until 3PM each day. You can explore rockets and space travel, using a telescope, flight simulator, and learning about the planets. The museum itself has an impressive collection of anthropology, botany, entomology, paleontology, and zoology collections in the museums permanent collection. Another collection that usually gets noticed is the parasitology collection that includes thousands of specimens that have been collected since the early 1970s.
