Wagon Camp Incline Village
The Wagon Camp, located at the Ponderosa Ranch and western style theme park, is the site of the ever-popular Hayride Breakfast. This is a great choice for a group outing in Incline Village. The Wagon Camp sits 1200 feet above the main grounds of the Ponderosa Ranch, at 7400 feet. The Camp is open from Memorial Day in May, through Labor Day in September. Wagon Camp rides begin at eight in the morning, and run through 9:30 in the morning. Motorized wagons take fans, tourists, and groups up to a small overlook, where the Wagon Camp breakfast grounds are located. There is also a small petting zoo at the overlook, where Billy goats greet the visitors. The overlook is a very small area, with some large granite boulders, and a walking trail that overlooks Crystal Bay and Stateline Point.
Some portions of the episode, "Salute To Yesterday" were filmed here, in August of 1968. Some other scenes were filmed here for the Bonanza TV movies, and the Cartwright cemetery was erected here, for the TV features Bonanza: The Next Generation, Bonanza: The Return, and Bonanza: Under Attack. The cemetery grounds were moved to this area for filming. There is a walking trail visitors can take down to the main grounds, but the trail is very steep, and it is not recommended for those who are not in good physical shape.
There are no reservations necessary for the Wagon Rides, and they cost $2 more than park admission, for a total of $12.50 per person.
