Eisenhower National Historic Site
Whenever you will be planning on making a stop to see all that there is in Gettysburg, you simply cannot forget a trip to the Eisenhower National Historic Site. You will find this beautiful location on 97 Taneytown Road, right near some of the other popular Gettysburg attractions. Anyone who is traveling along with you is sure to find great delight in seeing the amazing retirement home that Dwight D. Eisenhower lived in beginning back in 1950.
While you are taking a tour of the house itself, you will be able to view all sorts of beautiful furnishings, photographs and more which all belonged to the Eisenhower family. It almost seems as if everything has been let untouched, just waiting for them to return home. There are also certain tours offered where you can learn a great deal about Eisenhower himself, including his military life, hobbies, friendships and so much more.
The hours that you can stop by for a visit and a beautiful tour of the grounds will vary depending on the time of year that you will be in the area. Hours generally range from 9:00AM until 4:00PM every day of the week. There are regular closings of the site on most of the major national holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. The cost of admission is only $5.50 for adults, $4 for children ages 13 through 16 and $3 for children ages 6 through 12, with children under the age of 6 getting in for free.
