Start your tour of Newark with the tour bus stopping at the Old Swedes Church. The Old Swedes Church, built in 1699, is the oldest church in continued use in the United States. This stone and brick church overlooks the Christina River, and through it's artifacts, tells of it's history of starting as the Swedish Lutheran Church. The church yard is the setting for the Hendrickson House that was moved and restored in 1958 and now houses artifacts of rural Delaware form 1690 to 1800.
