Shriver House Museum
Set aside some time when you are touring around Gettysburg so that you can check out the wonderful Shriver House Museum. Many visitors every single year take great delight in all of the wonderful exhibits that can be found inside of this location on 309 Baltimore Street. This is a great place where you can find out all about the civilians who lived in the Gettysburg area during the famous battle so many years ago. You are sure to find this wonderful historical location to be quite lovely, especially because it is still standing and looking just the way that it did back in 1860 when it was built.
There are all sorts of interesting artifacts that were found within the home during the many different restoration projects that have taken place. Some of the items that you can get a look at include Confederate bullets, a glass syringe from back in 1858 and even a glass whiskey flask from 1860. This is one opportunity that you do not want to miss when you are traveling along with your family or your charter bus group.
Be sure that when you stop by you ask about taking one of the very interesting 30 minute tours where you can learn all about the rich history of the Shriver House and everything that has gone on here over the past hundred plus years. The hours during April through November are from 10:00AM until 5:00PM Monday through Saturday and from Noon until 5:00PM on Sundays, with only weekend hours during the months of December, February and March from Noon until 5:00PM. The cost of admission is only $6.95 for adults, $6.50 for senior citizens and $4.75 for children ages 12 and under.
