Some say that the
Washington National Zoological Park in
DC is normal while some had raving reviews about it. Before I went on my bus tour holiday in
Washington DC, I had all sorts of feedback and my verdict is that it’s stuck somewhere between ‘
very entertaining’ and ‘
normal’. The key to enjoying what this Washington DC bus tour stop has to offer is take everything other people have to say about the Washington DC National Zoological Park with a pinch of salt. The National Zoological Park of Washington DC is touted to be one of the finest zoos in the country as it was created by Congress way back in 1889. Hey, for something that old, it’s really doing quite fantastic!
Kids and teens will definitely be thrilled with the Giant Pandas they have at this Washington DC bus tour attraction – and they’re really CUTE, I am such a sucker for cute animals too. Laid-back and just munching away watching us watch them. They’re absolutely adorable! That’s Mei Xiang and Tian Tian for you. These Giant Pandas are definite hits with the kids if you make a bus tour stop here. Of course, these are not the only enchanting stuff at this Washington DC attraction. I mean, there are tons of other animals here to see….reptiles, mammals, birds, you name it it’s here. I remember coming here once when I was a kid with a big bib, with a little bow-tie over a pony-tail over my head, bright-eyed staring at the zebras….according to my mother. Had to be the black-and-white stripes thing, you see.
Although the Giant Pandas are huge hits with the kids at this Washington DC attraction, don’t forget about good ole Smokie the Bear! Hey, he’s a pretty cute fella too.
As with any other visits to a bus tour attraction like a zoo, remember to bring comfortable clothes, lots of water and wear comfortable shoes too! The weather can be punishing if you make a bus tour stop here during the summer. Don’t count on eating at the cafes and restaurants they have because I think they lack variety and kind of over-priced – well, avoid it if you can, anyway. Or you can bring your own lunch….or hop out for dinner later on. But on the pricing side…there’s none to enter the Washington DC zoo, so, don’t complain, like my friends say. I liked the mini version of the Amazon jungle…something a little different and also was thrilled feeding the pigeons and ducks.
Overall, it’s a really fun place to bring the kids too and there’s plenty of time for everyone to bond and watch the animals together. As long as you don’t expect this bus tour stop to be like a Disneyland, you’ll be fine!
