A fort? For me? No, thanks. That was my initial reaction
when the others decided to make a bus tour stop at Fort McHenry of Baltimore
Maryland. Not too taken with history (and in particular reminders of violent
years before), obviously, I expected the Baltimore bus tour stop to be as dead
as the fly I swatted. Surprisingly, though, I was proven wrong. Fort McHenry is
located in Baltimore Harbor and is known as the place where our national anthem
was written and the American flag was first waved. In short, this is where the
Battle of Baltimore ended.
After that, the Baltimore attraction never suffered another attack but some of the troops continue to use this Baltimore Maryland bus tour attraction as a military base. Until it turned into a huge hit among bus tour holiday-goers! When we made the bus tour stop at this Baltimore attraction, we were given a guided tour of the place and shown a short film to introduce Baltimore’s historic landmark attraction to us. The story was interesting as it showed a lot of fascinating facts that I didn’t know (or thought I knew) about the place. We had a very pleasant, knowlegable, intelligent, and witty guide during our Baltimore Maryland bus tour stop here.
What can you expect when you make a Baltimore Maryland bus tour stop? Well, for one, there are the twilight tattoo ceremonies, the living American Flag, the concerts and the Star-Spangled Banner weekend. They have different schedule throughout the year, so, check their website out for more information on programs. On Flag Day and Defender Day, the atmosphere turns lively with military display, music and fireworks! It was brilliant. Don’t think for one minute the kids will get bored. It’s a popular program for kids making bus tour stops at this Baltimore Maryland attraction….the Junior Ranger badge and certificate. Most of the beaming kids came out looking mighty proud of themselves! Once you’re done visiting this Baltimore attraction, take the Baltimore tour bus to Hampton National Historic Site which is about 10 miles away from Fort McHenry and your day will be complete!
