Some people say backpacking is tough but let me tell you something,
traveling in a group isn't any easier....especially if the group is a
large one. So, being a seasoned traveler, let me share some tips with
you about group traveling.
Book your charter bus way before time!
Renting a bus for a group trip is the smart thing to do unless you
don't mind spending a lot of time getting lost, getting on the wrong
train, arguing with cab drivers, etc. from experience, I can tell you
that it's best to rent a comfortable charter bus where you can rest in
between visits and chit chat with your friends or family about the
previous stop. It will make your traveling experience a much more
comfortable one. And remember to book a charter bus well ahead of time.
Usually, I would confirm everything with the bus company, like, a month
or two before scheduled time but I guess booking the bus a week before
the holiday is fine too.
One thing about traveling in a group is this....it's difficult when
everyone wants to go to different places at the same time! Before the
group trip, just write down a list of places that you want to
visit....each person should have a list. One person be in charge and
organize the trip. I always end up being the 'leader' (slave is more
the word) of a group trip and I know it is hard work but hey, someone's
got to do it. Worse comes to worse, if no one wants to take up the job,
ask the charter bus rental company if they have someone suitable for
the job. This way, no one argues.
Of course, there are other
essential group travel stuff as well. You don't need a compass unless
you're going jungle trekking but you, at least, need a map of the place
you're visiting as a group. Also, when scheduling, allow some time for
random visits to places you didn't plan to visit. This is very
common....like when someone asks the charter bus rental driver if
he/she has a good suggestion for shopping, he comes up with one and you
head on over. Impulsiveness is a huge ingredient in making the group
trip a happy one.
If you've got the hotel rooms booked up, then you're ready to put on your traveling shoes and have tons of fun, then!
