The Michigan Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Monument Association was erected in 1865 in honor of the sailors and soldiers who had lost their lives in the Civil War. The 450-seat Gem Theatre is a 5.5 million pound structure which is the largest structure to be moved five blocks on wheels! Fisher Building houses more than 40 types of exotic marbles on the walls, floors and ceilings of the building. This building houses shops, cafes, offices and the Fisher Theater.

Bald Mountain recreation area has 11 lakes and 2 trout streams with tons of open space for hiking, biking and picnics. Those who plan to go camping should head for Brighton recreation area which has the best mountain biking and equestrian trails in Michigan.
