This is the perfect restaurant for people with green thumbs,
loves organic locally-grown food served in a classy atmosphere. 312 Chicago,
despite not being a terribly original idea, remains to be one of the few
restaurants in Chicago that
supports the environment. When I heard about 312 Chicago,
there were mixed reviews. Some said it was ‘ok’ while others said it was ‘pricey’.
Well, since we’ve booked a charter bus from our favorite Chicago
IL charter bus rental company for a trip there,
I would have to see for myself, wouldn’t I?
First of all, the atmosphere….it’s very earthy with
earth-tone furniture. You’ve got to love the chair which leans back all the way
and gives you lots of room on it which makes the experience very comfy. Because
of the choice of color for the décor, it naturally makes you feel like you’re
right at home and the lighting is perfect too, not too dim and not too bright.
It’s said that 312 Chicago
supports the Green City
market and sources their products from the community-based local farms and it
applies to both vegetables and livestock. And then there’s the food. When it
comes down to authenticity, I give them a four out of five stars rating. When
you sink your teeth into the pasta, you know right there and then that it’s
hand-made. According to my friend who had sausages, the sausages were probably made
in-house too.
The service was good although it was a little too slow for me
because it was dinner time and the place was packed. It could’ve been better
but it’s not the worst. They made it up to me with the fantastic food and
drinks. I loved the racks and racks of American and Italian wines which they shamelessly
showcased all about the restaurant. We spent a lot of time going from one rack
to another nitpicking at each bottle of wine until we found the one that we
could agree on.
The view is fantastic especially at night. Right outside,
you’ll see City Hall, the Thompson Center
and the Cadillac Palace Theatre. Tourists who were in the adjacent Hotel
Allegro Chicago thronged to the place. As far as Italian restaurants are
concerned, 312 Chicago is
definitely one of the better ones we’ve been to.
