It says there in all the reviews that I read online that Fogo de Chao is awesome and the chef(s) is/are simply magic with his/their utensils, etc and you know what? I just had to go see it for myself. OK, if you are not big on dining out, here is a little bit of background on the restaurant. It is a Brazilian steakhouse which dated as far back as 1979 in Brazil. They are famed for their gaucho way of preparing the meat so that the meat remains juicy and full of flavor on the inside and the outside is a little dryer and crunchier (for some dishes). The meats are not roasted or grilled in the conventional way but they are more like burned over an open fire. The recipe and method was passed down from one generation after another and now, three centuries later, Fogo de Chao continues to fill tummies and tickle palates.
The first thing that entered my head when I walked in was this - this is going to be one expensive meal! From the atmosphere alone (which fully expect to be paying for when the bill comes), you get this really upscale, trendy feel to it. But it's not snobbish...more like...very classy feeling. When you get the classy feeling, you can basically make a rough guess as to the kind of prices that you are going to be seeing in the menu.
But once the food arrived, the anxiety disappeared and conversation ceased as we focused on making sounds of pleasure as we eat dug into our own meals! It was fantastic! The salad bar was another point that I liked about it. The vegetables and fruits looked like they were freshly plucked out of trees. Service was good too because we were seated almost instantly...with a bright smile and helpful attendant. If you don't like to be interrupted during your meal, just let them know and they will leave you alone, I'm sure. :-)
Bear in mind, this restaurant is always crowded unless you head over in your charter bus during off peak hours. Give them a call and book a table in advance if you don't want to wait. One thing that I thought could improve was the level of noise. I wasn't sure if it was just me but my friends thought that it was a little loud in there which spoiled the entire ambiance. Nevertheless, the food was good and there was an extensive wine list to choose from so, we didn't mind it all that much in the end.
